We believe farming should be fresh, sustainable, and close to home.
Shadowmere Farm is a small-scale, controlled-environment farm that grows fresh microgreens, culinary herbs, gourmet mushrooms, and premium worm castings.

Year Round & Sustainable
We started Shadowmere Farm because we believe you should be able to know exactly what went into your food and how it was grown. No fine print, no complicated supply chain, no guessing. Just clean food, grown locally, available when you need it.
Using hydroponic systems, we’re able to grow year-round without soil, harmful pesticides, or wasteful practices. That means cleaner produce, better flavor, and food you can trust.
We’re not a big corporation — we’re neighbors. Every harvest is grown with care, shared locally, and supported by our belief that healthy food brings people together.
Shadowmere Farm is more than just a farm. It’s a space where we share what we grow. We also share how we grow it. This sharing helps us understand what it means for the future of food. Whether you’re here to shop our produce, learn about hydroponics, or just connect with local growers, you’re part of the family. You’re welcome to be part of the
family.
How We Grow

For Greens That Grow Fast and Clean
Our microgreens and leafy greens grow in hydroponic systems — nutrient-rich water solutions that deliver everything the plant needs directly to the roots. The result is fast, consistent growth with significantly less water than traditional farming. No soil, no pesticides, no seasonal gaps.

For Gourmet Mushrooms
Mushrooms are a completely different world from plants. We grow gourmet varieties like oyster and lion's mane on sterilized substrate in a dedicated fruiting space inside our shed, where we control temperature, humidity, and airflow for each variety. Medicinal and functional mushrooms (reishi, turkey tail) are coming as we expand.

For Fresh Herbs
Many herbs perform best in containers with soilless media like coco coir and perlite. This gives us the environmental control of hydroponics with the simplicity of traditional growing. Basil, cilantro, parsley, mint — available year-round, consistent every time.

The Closed-Loop System
Our worm bins are a core part of the operation. Worms process organic matter into rich, dark castings packed with beneficial microbes and nutrients. The castings feed back into our own container grows, and we sell the surplus — both castings and worm tea — to home gardeners and growers. Waste becomes food for worms. Worms produce castings. Castings grow better plants. That's farming that makes sense.
Why We Do This
The Short Version
The commercial food system has gotten really good at one thing: moving food long distances and making it look good on a shelf. What it's not great at is transparency. Post-harvest wax coatings, labeling gaps on bioengineered foods, supply chains that make it nearly impossible to trace what happened to your produce before it reached you — these aren't conspiracies. They're just how the system works.
We think there's a better way. Grow it locally. Grow it cleanly. Be completely transparent about how it's done. And make it easy for people to actually get it.
What That Means in Practice
Every product we sell was grown in our shed. Every input is known. We don't use pesticides, and we don't cut corners on growing methods. When you buy from Shadowmere Farm, you know exactly what you're getting — because we'll tell you.
What's Next
Right now we're producing and selling from a single small grow shed. It's our Phase 1 — a real, working farm generating revenue and serving customers. We're also growing limited vegetables and plan to expand into year-round hydroponic vegetable production (leafy greens, lettuce, and more) as we scale.
The next step is bigger. We're running a fundraising campaign to build out a full-scale growing facility with dedicated mushroom fruiting rooms, expanded hydroponic systems, commercial vermiculture capacity, and full vegetable production.
